Come join us Saturday, May 3, 2025 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM to learn the basics and how to get started beekeeping with E’Angela Curry from Tanglewood Apiary.
E’Angela Curry Bio:
“I’ve been keeping bees for a little over 5 years now. My journey as a beekeeper started when I found a swarm on my property. It was love at first sight! I’m very passionate about encouraging and planting for all pollinators, not just honeybees. I’m currently in the OSU Master Beekeeper Program. I’ve achieved my Getting Started, Apprentice, and Mentor certificates and I’m currently working on my Journey Certification.”
Class Outline:
Introductions on how Angela got started beekeeping
Breakdown of how much it is to get started. Angela will go over hive parts, equipment, different bee suits, books and catalogs as examples of where to purchase equipment
The differences between the queen, worker, and the drone and their life cycle.
How to get your first bees.
Installing your nuc or package.
What needs to be done once you have bees: inspections, feeding, mite testing, mite treatments, and resources.
Where to get help.
Thing to know: This class will take place outside-please dress appropriately. Seats are limited and registration is required! Sign up below today! Snacks and beverages are available for purchase at the farm stand! No outside beverage allowed.
Cancelation Policy: Due to processing costs, no refunds will be issued for amounts of $5 or less unless Schilling’s Garden Market cancels the class.
